Brett
is an avid weightlifter who prefers his nickname "Rock." Rock
is a 36-year-old dad who absolutely lights up the room with his positive
attitude and personality. Rock was involved in a motor vehicle accident
and was not expected to survive. But with hard work, family support
and prayers, this young man has made tremendous strides. Rock's injuries
have left him with some mobility limitations, and he depends on his
Quickie 2 for all his independent mobility. Rock leads a very active
lifestyle, which includes working out at the gym, spending time with
his family members, Phyllis, Courtney, Elijah, and Lee, and is actively
involved with his church family.
One of our objectives with
Rock was to get him on a standing, weight bearing program. We chose
an Easy Stand stander, which allows Rock to independently stand and
receive numerous benefits: stimulate muscle and bone growth, decrease
lower extremity contractures, and is an excellent addition to his bladder/bowel
program.
You can tell by the
pictures that Rock loves his stander and he uses it daily. Rock is truly
a joy to work with. Because of his rugged determination and strong family
support, he has been able to overcome substantial challenges and leads
an active lifestyle. Everyone involved with Rock's rehab should be pleased
and proud of what this young man has accomplished.
Kyler
is a 12-year-old young man who is diagnosed with cerebral palsy - spastic
quadriplegia. Robert Morgan, the president of United Rehab Specialists
and an RTS has been involved with Kyler and his rehab equipment needs
for approximately 8 years.
To address Klyer's specialized
seating and positioning requirements, URS recently provided him a Tilt
N Space mobility system. As you can readily tell from the photograph,
he enjoys and has quickly adapted to his new mobility system. He also
requires specialized bath/shower equipment, a stander, and an adult
car seat, all of which were recently provided by URS.
Kyler has a smile
and personality, which will infect everyone who comes near. What a joy
and inspiration he is to work with. Kyler has a strong support group and
family, which include Stephanie, "Mamaw Gay", Teresa, Crystal,
Kala, and his teacher "Mrs. G", and her assistant, Mrs. Cox.
One of Kyler's favorite activities is reclining in his new mobility system
watching TV with of bowl of fresh popcorn. "Sounds Pretty Good."
Kyler's ultimate goal is to be independent with his mobility. With his
new power chair system, we are working towards that goal.
Our
United Rehab Specialists team is not limited to only the design, fitting,
and servicing of Rehab equipment. Often we are required to provide the
client with alternative funding sources. We pride ourselves at URS with
having the most extensive knowledge and training in our market with
funding sources and the required documentation.
This is certainly the case
with Lynn, a 39-year-old gentleman with a spinal cord injury - level
of injury C4-5. We are currently working with four different funding
sources to address his different equipment needs.
Lynn is an extremely successful
adult who works in the automotive industry. Lynn utilizes the latest
technologies available to provide him increased independence at home,
at work, and in the community. Lynn requires a power chair with power
tilt & recline with specialty driver controls and custom seating
for his functional, independent mobility.
URS has also provided Lynn
with his Easy Stand Stander that provides many therapeutic benefits
such as stimulating muscle growth, help with lower extremity spacticity,
contractures, and plays a big role in his bladder/bowel program.
Lynn is an inspiration
to everyone and living proof that limitations can be overcome with discipline
and dedication, and a good rehab provider.
At
United Rehab Specialists providing rehab equipment for our clients becomes
a long-term relationship and commitment, which we take very seriously.
Tony is a 28-year-old active cerebral palsy client who is such a pleasure
to work with. Tony lights up the room with his smile and energetic laugh.
Tony is unable to reposition
or sit independently. The power chair with power tilt and recline enables
Tony to reposition himself as often as he wants to and gives him independence
he had not previously enjoyed.
The stander URS provided
Tony gives him additional weight bearing benefits, strengthens his muscles,
stimulates bone growth, and enhances bowel and bladder management. Tony
laughingly says the benefit he enjoys most is "making me taller
than my mother, Ruth, and lets me look down on her."
URS also provided Tony an
electric hospital bed, which allows for greater comfort and positioning
for Tony. The electric bed also makes transfers much easier for Ruth.
URS rehab techs
have been blessed to work with Tony. His effervescent attitude uplifts
everyone whose life he touches.
